American football history was made in the UK on 9th June 2012 when the first ever fully kitted female tournament was held at the University of Hertfordshire.

Three teams took part (another pulled outjust before the tournament), the Hertfordshire Tornadoes, Portsmouth Destroyers and Southampton Stags in a round robin competition which saw the Tornadoes win the first ever women's title.

The third game of the day was essentially the final of the competition. With a victory each over the destroyers, it was all set for the decider between the Tornadoes and the Stags.

Hertfordshire proved just too strong for the Stags and ran out 44 - 8 winners. Amanda caset for the Tornadoes took MVP. The team won the first BUAFL women's American football trophy.
